Believe it or not, sales jobs may be one of the best career choices during a recession. At first glance, this may sound strange, since people tend to stop spending money during a recession. Naturally, you would think that this would mean sales jobs would be laying people off left and right. After all, if people aren’t buying, why should a company keep on a sales force? Yet, the opposite tends to happen during a recession, and this recession is no exception. For the most part, not only are existing sales jobs safe, but new ones are being created at a brisk pace. Here’s why.
One of the biggest tasks of any company during a recession is to drum up new business. The more new business a company can generate, the better it will do financially and the better chance it will have of staying in business throughout the recession. A big part of the job of a company’s sales force is to generate new business.. Sales people not only sell products, they develop leads. These leads are always important, but are especially critical during tough economic times. Companies want to keep as many people on staff as possible whose primary job is to bring in new customers. That’s why many companies continue to hire sales personnel during recessions.
Further, most sales jobs are both salary and commission-based. This means you get a base salary, and a commission on top of that whenever you sell something. Some companies pay commissions just for generating leads. Depending on how good you are at your job, this can mean a lot of extra money in your pocket. People who are good at sales jobs may find themselves with pockets lined with cash during down economic times, while their non-sales friends are struggling.
Believe it or not, it’s not as hard as you might think to make a sale during a recession. When times are tough, people want to feel pampered to stave off the blues, so they’ll spend money on small luxuries like short stays at a resort, massages, and make-overs. They also always need certain things, like cable and cell phone service, so those may be easier sells than non-essential things, especially if your company is offering a good deal. So, if you’re looking for work during a recession, consider sales jobs. They may just be your ticket to good financial times in a bad economy.

Why Sales Jobs May Be a Smart Career Option During a Recession
March 28th, 2010Single Most Important Tip For Landing a Sales or Marketing Job
March 25th, 2010
The most important thing definitely that does determine a guy getting the marketing sales jobs is his ability to read and interpret the emotions of a person. This single thing makes them great sales marketers. And this precisely is the thing that drives their selection for jobs. Of course, this is a pretty hard thing to master. But there is a simple tip for you today that can literally get you amongst the best sales jobs.
The tip is actually that you can gauge a customer’s thoughts by 2 methods- body language and your intuition. The problem is that while your intuition may seem always right, it is not always right. In fact, it can be horribly wrong and that is what the top salesmen know.
However, body language is always an accurate measure of what people actually want to have. Even though it takes a lot of effort to understand body language, it is a habit that is extremely useful when cultivated. To cultivate it faster, all you need to do is keep practicing it a lot. Like any muscle of the body, it will work best when it is constantly used.
To practice this, what you can do is try to read people’s mind through their body languages when you are not busy doing something else. These could be moments when you are on the train or whenever else you are free.
Another thing that can help you stand out is the realization of the fact that people love to shop but hate to be sold to. Yes, if they feel that they are being sold to then they will end up buying nothing at all!
So, how can this be used to help you clinch a job? Simple, people love it when you can add more value to the company or the place without an extra dime. So, all you need to do is make sure that these people realize that you have these essential qualities within you and that you would not be needing much more training (a word of caution though, don’t come off as a braggart, they may actually hate it!).
Also, since you now know the art of body language then, you can also utilize it to have a better posture and show off more encouraging body signs. This may seem counter intuitive as well but, the truth is that if you re work your body language then, your mind will start responding in the same fashion as well! This means that when you start sitting in an upright posture then, you will actually start feeling more attentive as well.
In short, to catch a mouse you must be like cheese. Even when you are appearing for an interview, you are selling something and that is your service! If you add more value and take the extra step to make sure that you do appear more interested, you will soon clinch a job! All you need is a bit of extra effort.

The Most Lucrative Commission Based Sales Jobs?
March 20th, 2010
Commission sales jobs are particularly the kind of jobs that are perfectly a win-win situation for both the parties. The vendors pay you up only when you make the sales and you get to align yourself with the best of the products. However, there is a huge difference that must be realized.
This process is not a job, at least not on the internet. If you have read somewhere that this is a job that you can take up online then, the person has been plain lying. Such jobs do not exist. And when they do then, they are not worth taking at all.
For example, the company offering such jobs might be a new one and may plainly not have sufficient funds! Actually, the case can be much worse. How? The company could be a big one but might as well be launching something that is extremely new and this might not get them too many takers!
So, it makes no sense to work hard when people would not be willing to buy. In fact, one just can’t sell stuffs which people won’t buy! So, the best thing to do would be to take it as a business. This actually is a business for a lot of people. The benefit that you would get when you treat it as benefit is that you are not bound by specific products! In fact, you get to choose the best of the best!
There are of course certain things that must be kept in mind before you actually begin doing such commission based sales jobs or establishing your own business. And guess what, none of this needs to be technical at all! In fact, the hardest thing to master in these cases is realizing the wants and needs of the people.
Since it is the people who are willing to spend their time and money, it is essential for you to know them better and offer solutions that would make their lives better. And one thing must be noted carefully here, it is- trying to fit products into a group of people would always be similar to trying to adjust your foot so that it comes inside a smaller sized boot! It is of course possible but there is a much better way available.
If you do need money on a specific date then, you should definitely consider getting yourself a job and not doing this internet marketing thing. The reason is simple, since it is a business, it does take time and since it does take time, you do need to be patient.
What is more is the fact that like any other thing, this thing too has a huge learning curve. And it is this learning curve that holds people back. People consider internet marketing as a short way to earn lots of money quickly. While it is a shorter way, it certainly is not very quick and one does need to be patient in seeing the results. However, if the learning curve is crossed then, the business is worth all the effort!
